Community of NavaJeevan

Way down in 1971 after the Vatican II the Institute introduced several experimental activities. One of the decisions was to have smaller communities for better interaction, intrapersonal relationship, deeper fraternal life among the sisters, smooth functioning, better sharing and better community life and above all better living of our Charism of Communion.

To bring these to effect the one big community of St. Joseph’s convent was formed into three smaller communities, namely Shanthi Nilaya, Prasan Niketan and Nava Jeevan in the year 1976. These communities shared a common kitchen, but each had its own refectory, community room and its own community programmes. All these were done with the hope for deeper prayer life both personal and community; for deeper fraternal life and for building communion in our ministries. So, the community of Nava Jeevan was niched out of the larger community and was inaugurated on 24th June 1976 with Sr.Clotilda at its helm. The Education apostolate of St.Francis Xavier Girls’ High School, St.Francis Xavier Boarding and St. Joseph’s Boarding for lower economical group were part of the ministries of this community. Later St. Joseph’s Boarding was amalgamated with R.T.C Boarding. Till to date the community carries on to fulfill its objectives in living of its community life and fulfil the mission of its beginnings.
