Chetena

In 1996, Fr. William Winifred, parish priest of St. Jude’s Church, Yedehalli, Anandapuram, Shimoga Diocese, wrote to the Provincial on 11th April 1996, requesting her to start a Convent in his parish. Sr. Rose Marie Pinto, the Provincial, responded by requesting Fr. William Winifred, to obtain a letter of Invitation from Mgs. Ignatius Pinto, Bishop of Shimoga. Accordingly the Bishop wrote on 27th April 1996, welcoming us to Shimoga District.

Anadapuram is a rural area. This parish is a colony of Catholic settlers from Shimoga and elsewhere. Yedehalli, 47 km away from Shimoga, 220 km away from Bangalore.

Fr. William Winifred, the Parish Priest, had arranged for a house for the Sisters’ stay – a simple and improvised one, though not comfortable.

The inauguration took place on 17th November 1998. As Bishop Ignatius Pinto welcomed the Sisters.
