Pakripat is a village in Jharkhand State, in Daltonganji Diocese, with good number of Catholic
population. Pakripat community was inaugurated on 29 th September 1998 by Sr Euphrasia, Sr.
Maria Theresa and Sr Elsy. This mission started staying in a rented house; the pioneers were Sr
Philo M.K, and Sr Nirmala Mary. This place has water scarcity, even today; water is supplied by
the waters. This is still under developed area; they are very poor farmers, depending on the rain
for the cultivation. Government facilities are not reaching to the people. This is the second
generation entering for education.
The Jesuit fathers donated 3 acres of land for the sisters for a new Convent and a dispensary.
They also constructed a house for the sisters with their money. The mission of the sisters was
socio-medical, pastoral and parish work. They were involved in organizing women and youth
groups.
Today sisters are teaching in the school, having hostel for the girls, pastoral and socio –medical
activities.
